I'm so happy for them... especially after the hell Bush & Cheney have put their country through. How about you? Are you happy for them?

Sure, why not. Now if we could just bring the soldiers home from that pointless war then the Iraqis will have something else besides soccer to celebrate.

I am happy for them. I think they needed something positive to happen.

I know you think Bush and Cheney are putting them through hell (and you are entitled to your opinion), BUT I have a brother there (Army) and the majority of the people are happy we are there and have come and thanked the soldiers in the streets.

Absolutely!! Even though the moment will pass, it's a feel good moment for a people starved for anything remotely good. Having a moment of joy, a moment of hope, is not in vain. Baseball (as well as other sports) has been contributed with lifting the American Spirit in difficult times. Something to take to heart.

Yea , Im glad something good can happen In that country . I dont blame Bush though , hes our president . The only people that can really complain about what happens in Iraq , are Iraqies and our military soldiers , marines , and sailors .Not civilians that just sit at home and watch t.v. bad mouth our world leaders .

How soon we forget:

Playing soccer was anything but a game for Iraq's national team during Saddam Hussein's rule.

Controlled by Hussein's sadistic elder son, Odai, the squad lived in constant fear of losing a match because failure on the field could result in public humiliation, imprisonment, punishment and even torture.

"He would turn against you in ways you wouldn't believe. Hitler didn't even come close," said Emmanuel Baba Dano, known throughout Iraq as Amu Baba, who served as the national soccer coach for most of the past three decades.

Its Football, not Soccer. And I'm overjoyed that they won. Kudos to the Iraqi nationals. Its their day of glory. They must be having one helluva time

They killed at least two in celebration celebrating with their rifles... Hooray for the NRA. Doesn't this sound just like some conservative Republicans on a Sunday afternoon outing with their families after church? No doubt their enthusiasm at winning a soccer game should be vaunted but realistically is that a reason to shoot their guns and kill some innocents in their exuberance? It sounds like some Rapture Rights at a Hallelujah Breakdown Tent Revival having learned of a Republican being elected to office. The emotional responses of religious nut cases are a direct reflection of their fanaticism toward their hallucinations. YES. I'm glad they won a ball game. I'm skipping around my computer right now clapping my hands and rejoicing in their victory. I getting ready to step outside and do some cartwheels when the rain stops BUT I'm not going outside and endangering my family, my neighbors, and my conscience by firing weapons indiscriminately.

Most of the left is upset that it is a positive story.... hard to fit into the soundbites for the moveon.org talking point crowd when there is no bodies to point at and Blame Bush.... note your spinning in the question...George Soro's sends his thanks.
