I can already answer your question. The person who asked "how do I know that I exist" was Rene Descartes. The only evidence he could come up with was "Cogito ergo sum", or "I think, therefore I am"

If you want a good website about Philosophy, this one is a quiz that will tell you which philosopher's ideas yours most closely resemble. It's a good way to get acquainted with philosophy

My top five were Ayn Rand, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, John Stuart Mill, and Friedrich Nietzsche.

This is about developing your own philosophy without having the originality of your thoughts contaminated right from the outset by what other people think and say. The most important philosophy for a person is what is derivative of his or her own life leading up to the knowledge of his or her self. The list of philosophers and thinkers is long and number of books and sites ever longer, but time of life too short. Listen to all others, but first of all listen to yourself, like a friend the most important philosopher in the world devoted only to you and to your loved ones.

This then would then be the beginning of asking the question the answer to which you seek. The journey of self-discovery is a spiritual quest of the soul. You exist but you are not certain, you feel but you also want to know all that you feel … this is dangerous, think carefully! Life is not a trivial trail, and not a pursuit that you should undertaking asking causally the question most important to your self … ask questions life by living passionately and then seek answers by living even more most passionately and lovingly.
