It's an interesting question as some scientists question weather humans are meant to be monogamous. Biologically males and females search for the best mate at the time of fertility. For a males that's any time they find a female ready to mate and for females it when a they are biologically ready and they find a suitable mate.
As humans we've evolved to a point we're no longer bound to biological imperatives and are more governed by our brains.
This doesn't mean we've got a way from our primal urges it just means we keep them in check.
I think that people cheat for mean reasons such as
1. A change in routine - The so called 7 year itch
2. Lust - Lust at first site
3. Love - Love can be non physical
4. Revenge - Revenge for something a partner has done
5. Opportunity - When they think they can get a way with it without anyone knowing or they just want a reason to get out of a relationship. The whole danger factor etc.
6. Emotion - When they get the emotional support from some where other than the partner
The most interesting ones are love/emotion as someone can start as a friend and you can fall in love with them and end up cheating on an emotional level which can then escalate to a physical level without ever planning anything.
I think that there a lot of reason why people do what they do but when you look at the most basic reasons you tend to see similar patterns
Hope that all makes sense

If you know someone is in a relationship walk away. In cases where you get lied to and didn't know the other person was in a relationship then it does poss a problem. I think if people were a little more protective of themselves and not so quick to the draw then it would be harder for people to cheat. I think people flirt to see if they still have it or could have it. They may not intend to take it that far but it happens because it is just too easy anymore.

I was just cheated on after 8 1/2 years in our relationship, the relationship was dying a slow death and he decided it was over for him and slept with a female who he started talking too, I am moving out this weekend and it's over. Truth is that I love him and would consider taking him back but he's said that he doesn't love me anymore so I gotta go. I think one day he will look for me but by then it will be too late. SAD

You can't justify it. Both party are wrong for doing it. There are some reasons for cheating but it just still wrong.

You can't in my opinion.
If the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, pack your lawn mower and go.
if you are so inhappy, then get out of the relationship FIRST, then move on.

Sadly, lack of sex, but it wouldn't excuse the infidelity.

We are men. Men do this just because they want sex with other women. It's as simple as that.
