I got it as a wedding favor and the bean is huge and it's only 3 days old. This is what the bean is supposed to look like: http://waxwizard.net/images/ka/lovebean-KA17008-lg.jpg

Can anyone tell me what type of bean this is? Is it edible? Thanks

By the way, the bean was a reddish brown when it first arrived.

What about this? http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Bean-I-love-You/dp/B000FJQJHY

I got on google, amazon and ebay and found out that they needed to be watered at least three times a week, and that they can grow as long as ten feet, if well cared for. If it is also blossom into flowers, here is the site, without pictures: http://www.gardenersnet.com/flower/scarletrunner.htm
Hope I helped! -Kittykat

The bean in the picture looks very much like a fava bean. Here is a pic for comparison.

Magic beans are basically any large or extra large light colored bean that can be branded. Here is a site that sells them and lists them as a variety of agricultural and heirloom bean with inscriptions.

The magic beans are green, the problem with the scarlet runner bean is that they are dark and variegated.
