Yeah, I find it sad that the Democrats base their political plan to win the presidency off of losing the war. Real patriotic.

They're not saying that so loudly of late - there's quite a few democrats who are now stepping up to the plate and doing a 180 - even Hillary !?!
The theme is now changing from total defeat to how dangerous it would be to pull out our troops. The surge is showing some positive results and the democrats know that, should the surge prove successful, the only possible way they can save face is to get with the program - but they first have to figure out how to spin their past agenda of total defeat into some kind of warped interpretation of support for the troops.
The war in Iraq and the overall war on terror can no longer be separated quite so easily - and the American people are slowly rejecting this rhetoric from the left and it's about time.
Don't get to enthused though - their primary objective is to continue to bash Bush and convince the American people that this country needs a whole "new direction" - while hoping the anti-Bush sentiment will over ride their total lack of any real policy changes and result in more democratic votes. They are now pretty much going for the anti-Bush (anti-republican) vote rather than any pro-liberal policy they might have up their sleeve. I doubt the people will fall for their campaign promises again after the last round of their "promises" went down the toilet after they got elected - so this appears to be the only workable plan they have at their disposal.

We should send the entire Democratic Congress to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba... not as prisoners, but to administrate and guard the facility. Yep, they're going to have to walk daily among the prisoners. I'll bet their views on gun control will substantially change after that experience.

Many Dems advocate giving up against the insurgents in Iraq; let's let these pampered, limousine liberals see what these terrorists are like, really close up! Many of these democrats oppose the measures we use to protect the U.S., such as the Patriot Act. So fine, they can't use any of the provisions contained therein to run the facility. They also cannot use water boarding to obtain information. They also forfeit the right to use any of the other host of measures they have tried to prevent the U.S. for using.... so even mild measures, such as loud music or sleep deprivation will be forbidden to them to use, either to gain information or as a deterrent against bad behavior amongst the prisoners.

A few years ago, a snotty, self-important group from Amnesty International and the Red Cross stridently demanded changes at Guantanamo during a visit there. The on-duty commander tried to explain to these coddled bureaucrats that what they suggest would be hazardous to the guards, who even with protections, routinely had urine and feces thrown at them by unruly prisoners.

The Liberal delegation was unimpressed by his explanation.

Therefore, the Commander decided to make these people "put their money where their mouth is". He led them to the edge of an open recreational area where they could walk amongst the prisoners and told them to go in, if they were so convinced about the loony measures they advocated. If they really thought these prisoners presented no danger, then they should have no fears about going inside.

Everyone in the panicked delegation quickly refused his offer!

Typical liberal hyprocrisy. Too bad the base commander didn't get to see these limousine liberals screaming frantically for help, but at least he denied them the luxury of their self-delusions.

Nice job, my fellow conservative.

No, what's lost are over 3,000 American service men and women and thousands and thousands of Iraqis. Not to mention the thousands of wounded American service people who have to live with brain injuries, lost limbs, PTSS and other physical and mental trauma for the rest of their lives. And all we've accomplished is to wreck Iraq, further destabilize an already unstable area of the world and give the terrorists a rallying cry.
And if all that isn't enough for you, take a look at the national debt, my friend, and ask yourself which congress put us there... It wasn't the dems!

The leaders in Congress know exactly what they're doing. They're not lost. They have thier metaphorical roadmap. It's just not a map to victory (or anything esle) in Iraq, it's a map to the White House. Political power here in America is thier only priority, what happens in Iraq is only important in so far as it can be used to drive the Republicans from power.

Congress isn't fighting the war, soldiers are. Maybe you should ask THEM how things are going. You should also ask yourself what 'win' and 'lose' means in this context. Do you have any idea what the mission is? Who the enemy is? What 'winning' actually means? Or do you just want a nice, comforting fairytale about the knight slaying the dragon?

The war was and never will be won...it has turned into a civil war and this useless cocaine addicted President is drawing you into a 3rd world war...wake up and smell the coffee, you have become the modern version of ancient Rome, needing a war every few years to save your economy.
