I'm single, no children, I rent so my whole thing is even though I listen to both sides and try to vote what's best for my community, I feel like what's the point none of it is for me anyway. Everything is for families, parents, homeowners, I'm none of those so even though I do my civic duty, I'm still like. . . .why? It doesn't effect me?

qwid_pro_quo - Yes I work but that does change the fact that I'm overtaxed for not being married and not having children. While I'm in college I have to pay out of pocket for be responsible enough not to have children until I can take care of them girls who did not get to go for free. Everything is for them and they are the majority. That's why I'm saying I DO VOTE. I DO LISTEN TO THE ISSUES AND BOTH Parties, however, it seems they don't listen to me (legislature) because, I'm single, have no children and own no property regardless that I work and am taxed out of the whazoo.

It does effect you, though! The people in office make the laws about everything, and that includes renting, and zoning and immigration and employment and just about everything in your life. It is always worth it to vote! When you vote for President, you are also helping determine the course of the Supreme Court and major issues.

There are some minor considerations:

- Taxes
- Education
- Roads
- Public Transportation
- Insurance costs
- Corruption in government
- Wars
- Public housing

These are just a few. You might want to take a little time and see if you agree/disagree with the status quo.

Vote to lower or eliminate federal income tax then. If you don't vote, no one represents your quasi-unique situation. If others don't vote in similar situations, you, as a defacto group, have NO representation. Vote because you care about the community, and country you live in.

I can't give you a good reason to vote. Sorry. Maybe, I'm just jaded, but I agree with you...and yet I still vote. Oh yeah, you can get an extra hour off of work...
