well, if cheney drove 450 mi on both days, and 3 times as much on sunday than saturday, that must mean that i think you should do your own homework.

On Saturday, they drove x miles. On Sunday, they drove 3x miles. Thus, in two days they drove x + 3x = 4x miles. We know that they drove 450 miles, so 4x = 450 and x = 112.5 miles, the distance they drove on Saturday.
Several people have instead answered the question, "The Cheneys drove 450 miles on Saturday and three times more miles on Sunday. How many miles did the Cheneys drive on Sunday," to which the answer would be 1350.
