What would happen if........instead of using Weapons of Mass Destruction to do each other in, we fought our Wars with Love? Lets say we can't use violence against each other, only good deeds. No unkind words can be spoken aloud. Rather than expressing Hate, we have to express Tolerance? The Hostile Powers to be were jovial? Would that be a grievous threat to manKIND? Can we kill each other with kindness?

(Groan) This question has turned into a real headache for me.I wish somebody would KINDLY help me out here and just kill me. How am I supposed to choose a "Best Answer" when they're all great? Would'nt it be kinda funny & ironic if the stress I'm going through trying to choose killed me.

I'll tell ya one thing for sure, the next question I ask won't be as stupid......I hope. Yes YSD,it makes no sense! Well, there is a way to kill someone with kindness, and it's called Euthanasia. But.that's a different topic.I was referring to wars against each other and with other Countries and such. You all had great ideas and opinions. I hope some of you were joking, because I laughed. I loved I_fidelius_graecuse's "No,but it's refreshing to think you still have killing on your mind." Had to read it twice before I got what you meant. Anyway, you all had great answers, even though some were kind of depressing. I guess I asked for it by asking such an idealistic and contradicting question. Now,if my cat would KINDLY move his furry white BUTT!! outta the way, maybe I can finally choose my answer. lol!

Please disregard all the typos and misspellings above. Tiki made me do it. That's what I get for trying to be so nice to my cat, that I let him sit anywhere he wants, when he wants. Anyway, I know I mispelled a few words up there, such as euthansia and others. I think my Spell Check is defective. Ever notice how it's never my fault? That's cause I'm a Capricorn. lol! Okay. I guess I better stop procrastinating and tell you who I chose for my "Best Answer" and why. Thank you everybody for your input.

Because I know I won't be able to fit this in with the comments to the "Best Answer" I wanted to say a special thanks to Ace 35 & Psychic Cat. I have been meaning to read that book ,"Of Mice And Men". I am an avid reader and somehow I missed one of the great Classics. Thanks for the reminder. I also wanted to tell freesumpin that the 24 hour Bob Marley requirement sounds like a great idea. If people would listen with an open mind and heart,I'm sure we'd see a positive change. Unfortunately people only hear what they want, when they want and miss the true messages in his music. I tried sharing my favorite Bob Marley with my bf this weekend ,while he was here visiting, but all he did was make stupid racist remarks, which I hope he didn't mean. what ever, it didn't turn out the way I invisioned, and I only felt UNKINDLY towards my bf instead. So when he finally went home,I was glad. I hate having bad thoughts about "Friends".

I always found a cheerful friendly grin and mild response usually disarmed the unfriendly. But not always. Some people are too stupid to respond intelligently. Extending tolerance to them only encourages them in their insanity. What benefit is there in tolerating the intolerable? Apart from the benefit they perceive in reassurance of how right they are. Problem. On the other hand, much anguish could have been avoided if USA had put aside its paranoia about communism and asked the Vietnamese how we could help them develop independence, instead of bombing them mercilessly and losing the war. But kindness can kill, too. Giving an old man too much cake, or a favorite poodle chocolate, can kill them. Years ago kind women of USA gifted masses of mechanical street sweepers to India, to save the Untouchables their degrading labors. It put the Untouchables out of work, into even worse poverty and precipitated uprisings. Perhaps you can't win. But we must try. Preferably by asking questions and listening before we talk. But sometimes even that's not possible, or productive. Ever been stuck with a pair of missionaries? The most effective response to stupidity or malevolence I found, was to help people "die on their own swords". It works a treat. But it takes observation, thought, patience, restraint - and no visible reaction, merely timely response.

Well lookie here! As you can see from Y/A there are diehard positive and negative types. They wouldn`t change for all the money or the suffering in the entire universe. Some try but theydo so with negative thoughts about themselves, so it doesn`t work no matter how much they struggle and sacrifice.
In short, lol, dear Donelle, all we can do is what works for us for what we decide we want. Keep toolin`along to your Bob and let the rest enjoy or not whatever they want. If someone asks for guidance, just tell them how you succeeded. Stay away from the down side. That`s ancient history, water under the bridge. Thanks for the question.

That does not make any sense.
Fight wars with love. In this Utopia you envisage, there would BE no wars.
And no reason to "use" anything against each other - even good deeds.
Jovial hostile powers??
Every sentence is a contradiction in terms.
But I do get where you are coming from and see that it would be nearly impossible to express correctly.
Therein lies the rub; if it cannot even be expressed then it is unlikely it would ever come to pass.
On a personal and less global-scale, I do think you can kill someone with kindness, it's known simply as tedium.

I can't imagine any way to force both sides to use kindness, so it can't be tested, but I doubt either side could kill with kindness. If one side used kindness and the other didn't the non-kind side would end the kindness with artillery, bullets, poison gas or blades, and the kind side would have lost. An example of this can be found in many of the Viking raids on monasteries: The unarmed monks often put up no fight, yet were still cut down, burned or trampled to death. If one is pious one may assume their victory was celebrated in heaven, but they had none in life.

Well, first of all, this could never happen, as you know. But it's a great idealistic concept. War, by definition cannot be "fought" with love. There will be hate & conflict as long as humans exist--which may not be for as long as we'd think, if we continue in the direction we're going. While ace35's answer didn't address the range of your question, I found in it wonderful simplicity & truth--that it IS possible to kill someone with kindness in his reference to "Of Mice & Men."

You can do that to a man as well. I've had plenty of male acquaintance in the past that have had "beef" with me over something silly (and they made it known to me and everyone else). But I was still polite and spoke no ill words of them. I would even go so far as to wave at them when passing by. And for the life of them they couldn't understand it. People who have these tendencies don't understand that you'll be blessed in your life for simplifying the problem and being the positive to their negative reaction. By you being humble, you show that you're the bigger, better man or woman. You live your life in peace because you chose not to hold onto anger towards those who've "trespassed against you" so to speak. Meaning, you take their aggression with a grain of salt while moving on with your life, allowing them to stay "stuck" in the anger they hold against you. Now, she may not melt (because she doesn't understand what it means to be kind), but you will shock the $h!t out of her when you show that you're not angry and she is. Eventually, you'll speak to her so much that her "evilness" won't even bother you.

Yes , look at all the obese children in america, diabetics, blindness, heart problems, high blood pressure, elderly peoples ailments in childhood, how horrible. Manufacturers are dumping sugar into every single
product sold on grocery shelves, go to the cereal section,
its worse than the candy section. Yes you can, slowly kill children with kindness. It is so sad that anyone has to kill any one for any reason

No, but it's refreshing to think you still have killing on your mind.
"If I ever went to war, instead of throwing a grenade, I'd throw one of those small pumpkins. Then maybe my enemy would pick up the pumpkin and think about the futility of war. And that would give me the time I need to hit him with a real grenade." -Jack Handy

But what you suggest is some Utopia.. till date real Kindness is never proved a Killer ..
and why you should be that kind to eliminate others means you are hiding your hate and using kindness as weapon.. this is worst form of Hypocrisy
When it become .. HAVE TO .. then , it will not be Love but hidden hatred only.. no one can pretend Love .. Reality will surface ...
What you are suggesting is done by rich nations already.. yes rich nations do it to poor nations ,they donate money, medicines , food and weapons, which is used to keep their poor enemies in control and keep rich become more rich when their factories, shops are making business and profit. where as the poor never repay their debt but never self reliant or self confident . thus Kindness can be used to Kill
another way of killing with kindness and with sweetness is Pampering with 'food ..
But this is limited effect only.. you can say it is for private use...
for example , Mrs. X husband is so food mad , and other hobbies a man is supposed to be in , She is furious be can not do any thing.. some one tells her ,You Know,, the Way to Heart of man is Via Stomach.. but you did not know that your man's way to heaven also is via stomach.. and she understands .. She starts cooking most delicious dishes laden with fat, butter, cheese, she gives best cakes, pastry ice cream , every food ... within a few weeks husband is gaining weights, his clothes are fitting too tight , he finds walking difficult.. his belly is bulging .. but wife encourages him to eat more.. saying Darling I love your tummy.. Larger than Life size.. Poor husband is behaving like a baby.. and feeds on the love of his Loving Wife...
after three months he gets First and final heart attack in bed when both are asleep after having great sex of week end.
This way wife gets rid of Husband ,, Killing with Kindness.. but as I see it , it is very private and for limited use..
