Fish are numerous and may never be extinct in one form or another. Fish or symbols of fish may be synomonous with proliferation or life, maybe pregnancy or a desire for life/birth/rebirth/reliving.
Fish can also be religious in nature, something about being a fisher or men comes to mind. Images of fish are found all over the bible, maybe you are influenced by what you hear often.
Fish can also be a symbol for money or wealth.
Fish can be seen as a symbol of sea life, obviously.
Tell you what, sit down sometime and think about what YOU think of when you say the word fish or see a picture of a fish. Maybe it even brings back a childhood memory or something silly, that when you are asleep you are subconsciously wanting to remember and a whole story comes about in your dreams to help your mind heal or remain active over this one quick or fleeting memory.
