My ex-husband's birthday is this week. Our divorce was final the end of May. I don't love him as a spouse anymore, but I do still care about him. He still tells me he loves me everytime I see him, and has tried to get me to work things out with him. I want to send him a birthday card because I do still care about him. Is it weird to send an ex-husband a birthday card? Do you think he will get the wrong impression and think that I care about him more and that I might want to get back together with him or will he just see it as a nice gesture? We were separated (not divorced yet) on my birthday and he called me and came up and gave me a gift also. What should I do? Card or no card? If I do send a card, how do I sign it? Thanks for your help!!!!

I think it is so much nicer to be nice so yes, send him a card but send a humorous card which has nothing to do with your life together or hints at anything you know about him.. Sign it Best wishes from ........ I would forget about buying him a gift. If you continue with what he started, he may read it wrong and give false hope. Enjoy your single life and indeed I hope he moves on with his.

If you send that card you will be sending the wrong messege. I went through the same debate on weather I should fill out a birthday card to my ex from our son. He was only 2 and a half when we split up. So I just put happy b-day dad from bobby. I couldn't even write I love you dad for him.

OMG what an ***. He obviously needs help. Tell her to rip it up put it in an envelope and mail it back to the jerk. Then tell her to get a restraining order against him so he can't come around or contact her any more. I know that's her father, but being a "dad" is more than just biological, and he's not a dad. Think of the damage he's already done to this poor girl. and trying to get her FEMA money? How low is that? The only reason he started coming around was for her money. WHAT A LOSER. he makes ME mad and I don't even know him!!!

Let him get over you by leaving him alone for goodness sake. Don't send the card or any other mixed signals.

No card. He will take it wrong. No card, no call, no nothing. Time to finalize this separation and move on with your life.

Sure. Better to get along than not. Get him a funny card. Sign it but don't use the word "love"

Send a card and put a playful note like "now, don't get any ideas!" with a smiley face.
