Yes - their rhetoric, actions, and stated goals are much further to the right than at any previous time I can remember. Six years of control over all three branches of government has allowed them to wallow in their mean-spirited, atavistic contempt for the taxpayers, and they're well on their way to ruin.

Well, you are correct in saying that the Republican Party has changed; but, of course, so did the Democratic Party. To me, they are both way out of line, but listen to what people keep telling the politicians and you will get part of the answer. Over-bloated Government and sex scandals, though, are signs of the left, not the right.
The Republican Party needs to move to the right.
There are some extremists in th Republican Party, but look at Pelosi! THAT is extremism!

TO IRON PLAGUE, I am not a democrat or a republican or a righty or a lefty. I know for a fact that far-right fringes have increased since Obama's first term. Moreover, I do know their are far-left terrorist but this does not seem like their MO, you know like attacking banks or corporation they think is corrupt, and there are probably no known lefty militia out there. We do know that their are far-right militias out their that are anti-government. In addition, it was done on TAX DAY or PATRIOT DAY in BOSTON. This seems like some kind of symbolism that seems anti-government and if you know your history about Boston and taxes. Just think for a second, Boston, TAX DAY, Patriot's DAY could equal about the group that did something in the mid 18th Century which rebelled against the BRITISH for raising their TAXES. Do you know the name of this group? I leave that up to you.

your account is wrong. both parties have extreme wings and neither hold the moral highground. the dems have the clinton sex scandal and are notoriuos for higher taxes. and america prefers a rep when it comes to national secuity and min tax hikes. i think it is more the candidate than the party.

you shouldn't generalize about ALL of anything. Some Republicans have crossed the line, yes. Some Independent voters may still choose to vote the Republican ticket.
It's way too early to determine this though. It will depend on who the final Dem and Rep candidates will be.

uh rather they've gone to the LEFT Wing. they are not conservative at all which would be more to the right. they're the equivalent of the democrat party of the 60's. the democrats of today are socialists and communists.
the republicants need to move FURTHER RIGHT to get back to their base. in the meantime real conservatives will stay home and not vote for the republicants and more socialists will be elected as we witnessed in the '06 election cycle.

"The new Republican Party is about over-bloated government and sex scandals."
Sounds more like they've become a party of liberals to me. And that's why they lost big in '06.
