I am being persuaded by all of my friends and family to become a writer. I really do want to become one as well. I have a nack for writing about vampire's and things midieval. But sadly, I am having a great amount of writer's block and have no idea on how to start my story. I do want it to be about vampire's. Any ideas on starting it?

1.Decide what time period you want this to be in
2.Then the location
3.The basic plot you have in mind
4 And write down a list of “characters” you will include.

Use this as your basic draft. And only a draft. The actual text will start to flow easier as you progress.

Hey, that's cool. I want to be a writer, too.

Try reading more of the authors whom you want to emulate, and ask around to see what others are reading. Expand your scope of the genre, discover its possibilities.

Also, remember: to be a good writer, you should know a lot about a lot of things. Be interested in learning anything. Don't limit yourself to a narrow education. Your world of vampires will be so much more real to readers when you have captured enough of the real world as well to make it convincing.

Lastly, writer's block may just mean you should stop for a while and think about everything for a moment. After all, most of writing is done before you sit down to actually type it.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

"the night was dark and still. I awoke in fear to see the shadow of a man standing near the foot of my bed. With a scream lingering at the back of my throat, I struck a match which with to light the bedside candle, only to find that the room was empty. Was I only dreaming of that phantom in the night?"
OK...if you can't jump start from that, you SERIOUSLY have writer's block!
The beginning of a novel must have a catch, that will instantly grab the reader's mind.
Use this opening, change it, elaborate on it, it does not matter. What I intended it for was to put your mind into the framework of an idea of what a "vampire" tale might consist of. Good luck and here's hoping you write a best seller!!!

You may want to do some research on blood fetish and talk to some of the people on here who claim to be vampire's osme are emotional vampires and some just love sucking blood (blood fetish) and some really think they are vampires and they have chat rooms, they post questions in this section sometimes and you may be interested in asking them personal questions is they provide an email before you start writing a novel.
you may want to start some short stories first and take a few college english classes because a part fo writing is getting your english errors right as well, so the editor doiesn't have so much work ahead of them in correcting your english. You could have people give their opinions on your work.
Thats a start

Well, with any story you should always start with the plot, obviously. What do you want to happen in it. Write everything that pops into your head down, even if it seems silly. You never know what might come in handy.

My old literature professor told me you should always decide how your story will end before you start writing it. That helps you stay on course, it gives you a finish line, if you will, and encourage you to finish the story.

Make a few main characters and a few lesser ones. Decide what they are like, their names, what they look like, their history, likes and dislikes. That way you get to know your characters and it will be easier to write about them.

Another professor told me to write about what I know, but that's not always possible, so if your story takes place in a time and place you are not familiar with, do extensive research on the time period and/or place. It lends a great deal of authenticity.

Hope some of that helps. If you need any more feel free to email me.

Was Osiris a vampire? Could this explain his returning from the dead and becoming the judge of the dead?

Or what if the main character was finally a female vampire (instead of the typical seduce the woman you found through time theme).

Finally I would just list every idea you have (bad, good, crazy, impossible) list them all and then go back and decide what will work for you.

Good luck

why don't you look for some mythology? I mean, you don't have to go for this old stuff related to Rumania and things like that. the vampire myth exists in several cultures and each culture has a different kind of vampire. Maybe, with a little of research you could write about vampires, and being original at the same time. Greek mythology is the one that comes to my head, but the vampires were also believed to exist in the prehispanic cultures, like aztecs and mayans. You have a lot of sources to start your novel... good luck!!!

plan out the plot before you start writing.

Since you want to do vampire watch movies like underworld revoulation, blade. The whole thing with wolves and vamps fighting is getting old though, try vamps vs. humans, or other mis understood human animal mixes.

Try making your own fantasy creature, one that no one knows about yet.

I think they have to be your ideas really. If they aren't then you would just be copying. The best novelist have great imaginations as well as good writing skills. You could start with brainstorming characters, scenery and the story. After that just start describing things and imagine how they will interact. Just remember that every good story needs conflict and resolution.
