I actually do what I was taught growing up -- I close the lid when the toilet is not being used. That's actually what it's for.

Seat and Lid down. Keeps the cats from playing with the water.

In our house, both the seat and lid are closed at all times.
We had a cat drown when I was a child....
As far as boys vs. girls... there are none of those at our house.

Yes, and the lid. It keeps kids and pets from playing in it. Besides, if you drop something in the BR you don't want it going in the toilet if you can avoid it.

When I poop, yes I do. I have trained my wife to put the seat back up when she is done.

i was raised with a house full of women...you'd better be damned sure that toilet seat is down or you were gonna get a face full of whatever they sling your way...ugh....
