We just bought our first home. What are some things we should expect?

Expect some good tax breaks at the end of the year
Expect that you can decorate any way you want
Expect that things will break down and hopefully someone in the family is handy and able to fix them
Expect that you will need all kinds of new things like lawn mowers, tools, curtains, etc.
Expect that you will have a feeling of pride with every room you redo
If you are young expect a child on the way soon this always seems to happen, don't know why just does.
Expect headaches, heartaches, good times, memories, joy sometimes pain, laughter, tears, frustration, and relaxation, developments, improvements, changes and rearranges,

First of all, there are tons of things that you need to buy when you own compared to renting. Lawn mowers, yard care, etc. Also, bills will probably be more expensive since you will be watering your lawn and airconditioning and heating a larger building.

You don't have to ask permission to paint; you don't have to wake up to noisy neighbors "making noise" in the middle of the night; and you don't have to worry about someone taking your parking spot all the time...

Those are the things I am looking forward to in less than one month when I close on my first home.

you get to do all the maintenace
you get to do all the yard work
HOA fees (if apllicable)
water bill is yours now
trash bill is yours now

BLINDS!

Remember to save money (LOTS OF MONEY) for blinds. Man they are expensive!
