my doctor said that if my blood work comes back saying that i didnt ovulate, they want to put me on clomid. i checked with my local pharmacy with the price and they said that for a bottle of 30 pills (generic) it would cost me about a hundred and something. is there a way i can get that cheaper? i mean the doctor said that i need it to get pregnant but also i have small cyst on my ovaries from not ovulating. if i took them my cyst would go down. my insurance doesnt cover infertility or medication for it, would that be considered infertility or is there a way around it? please give me some advise.

I wish there was a way around it! Unfortunately, my insurance also refused to pay for any fertility treatment. Trying to get you to ovulate, even though a basic function any healthy woman should be able to do, is considered fertility treatment by insurance companies. Don't even get me started on how unfair this is and how infertile people are discriminated against by insurance companies!! Best of luck to you.

That's about right, I get 10 pills 50 mg each and take 2 for 5 days. I paid $25 with my insurance. I would only get them per month don't get more then a month at a time b/c if you get pregnant on your first month then your stuck with all these pills you paid for and don't need.
I like one of the other answers on here had cysts that burst and was in pain for about 3 hours or so curled up in a ball it hurt but I ovulated the next day so I was happy. It's all just a memory now and will be worth it in the end.

Well, if that was the price for 30 pills, that is all you would be paying, since you only take 5 clomid pills every cycle. I paid $17 for my first month but if you add it up for all 6 months, it is about a hundred dollars. I would ask the pharmacy, if you can just get the dose you need every month, instead of getting all of it at once. It would be a waste, if the clomid worked for you, in the first few months, and you wouldn't even need to use it for 6 months.

If you want to try something more natural then the herb vitex is supposed to work the same as clomid. You can get it at a health food store. I got a bottle of 100 pills for around $5-10 and you're to take 2-3 pills a day for 8-12 weeks then 1 a day. It will help regular your cycle and help lengthen your luteal phase

Another option you may want to try is to get involved in an infertility clinical trial. Some clinics and drug companies have these going on and off all the time, so you'll need to check with some local infertility doctors and clinics in your area. To find some infertility specialists in your area you can do a search on yahoo or go to some specialized infertility doctors and clinics sites like http://www.findinfertilitydocs.com/

I would check with my insurance and see if it is covered, without telling them why you need it. I had cysts before I got pregnant. When they burst, it is not fun you will be in pain!! I found this when I googled the search. I don't know much about it, check it out more before you buy!!!

keep in mind that 30 pills is a 6 month cycle........You may be able to get away with only 15 pills (Ask your dr for just a 3 month perscription..and cut the price in half)

Maybe you shouldn't be getting pregnant if you can't afford $100+ for the prescription, cribs and other baby items cost that much.

But perhaps you could talk to you doctor about prescribing it for your cysts although theres probably more effective treatments for that than Clomid.

Try shopping around. I don't remember paying that much. I think I paid about thirty something.
