Depends on amount exercise, water intake & dryness of its stools:

Outdoor pets = do well with dry if they get plenty of exercise & drink plenty of water.

Indoor pets; especially cats. The basic dry food is OK; however, indoor cats normally do not exercise enough to warrant sufficient water intake. Therefore, 1 can of canned with gravy about 3 times a week should add more moisture to their diet so they do not have a urinary shutdown (which could kill them in 24 hours or so if can't urinate).

We found a canned food with gravy our cat liked (same with the previous cat) & gave the can every other day. We have not had a repeat of urinary blockage with either of these cats.

Both. Usually the main diet is dry food for both of my cats and dogs. Occasionally a tiny bit of wet food for your cat as a treat is good too. The cat(s) will certainly appreciate it.

Mostly dry for both the cat and dog. I give them moist food about 1 day a week as a treat for them.

I would give my cat dry food. She couldn't eat the wet food all of the time. It made her sick. I would only give her wet food as a treat. Buy both and find out which your pet likes more; every pet is different than the next. If they like both, just pick one. :D
