I don't think I am scary but when I try to joke around with him he starts apologizing and looks down or backs away. Maybe he doesn't get my sense of humor. I'm thinking I should have someone else sign for the packages. Am I really scary?

It's not you Sarah, and please don't blame yourself for anything,...it's him, he's obviously very shy and that's why he's doing that specific job,because he's on his own all day and does not have workplace banter with colleagues as someone who works in an Office, Store, or Factory would have, and that's the way he wants to be......so it's best to just sign for the packages and let him go on his way to his next port of call.......I know, I am that delivery person......(though my Company uniform is Blue!!)

Maybe he thinks you're attractive and is shy and/or intimidated. By the way, those ugly brown uniforms they wear are pretty scary....
