Unfortunately I don't think there IS a punishment available that fits the crimes Sandusky is accused of committing. No matter what the legal system does to him by law if he's found guilty (including execution if that's legally available in this case), no punishment he suffers will be worse for him than what he is accused of doing to those kids. Execution may offer some closure for the victims, but unfortunately not even that can undo damage already done.

3. Relocation to a small community entirely made up of the race they attack. Teach them both their vulnerability and hopefully that people can be cool irrespective of race.
4. Similarly, a "buddy" programme, where the attacker pledges to undergo a learning experience, living and working and socialising with a gay couple and their circle. Again, the theory is re-education by experience.
5. Tricky one this. Treatment, certainly, to deal with the socially aberrant impulses. There should be a punishment element here too, but it is difficult to see what it should be, since each case is mortifyingly different. Perhaps the punishment here should be open to a jury to decide.
6. Cruelty to animals is covered currently by fines, license removal and, I believe in extreme cases, even custodial sentences. I'm not a greal believer in custodial sentences, but otherwise I think the penalties for this are about right at present.
7. Banks are far more criminal than anyone who simply wants to rob one. How about the convicted bank robber has to pay the bank's rate of annual interest on the amount stolen, which must then be donated to customers as a dividend.

9. Confrontation therapy. The mugger to be shown images of the victim, and then come face to face with them and their family in a controlled environment to explain themselves.
10. Pay for any damage AND any upgrades agreed by the owner and the court. Where the car is used in such a way as to cause loss of life to a third party, again, use confrontation therapy to help the victim's family find closure.
