It sounds like one or both of the 2 wires that run to your ignition switch have broke or come loose and now cannot measure the resistor that is embedded in your ignition key. If you drop your steering column you can gain access to the 2 wire connector coming that connects these 2 wires to the engine computer. You can read the resistance of the embedded resistor with an ohmmeter. Once you have determined what the resistance is go to your nearest electronics store and purchase a 1/8 watt or 1/4 watt resistor with the same resistance value as your ignition key. Place the resistor leads into the 2 wire connector leaving the connector coming from the ignition switch disconnected. Your vehicle should now start. You can now start your vehicle without having to replace your ignition switch and without having to pay $80 to $150 for one replacement key. However, the Passkey Antitheft System will now be bypassed.

The only place that can do that is a dealer. About 80 to 100 dollars

A dealer or authorized locksmith will be able to troubleshoot the system and make a new key---would be very expensive to remove or bypass the system.

$85.00 TO $125.00 AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY WILL NEED TO REGISTER THIS NEW KEY WITH GENERAL MOTORS FOR YOUR PROTECTION.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE A LOCKSMITH BECAUSE HALF THE TIME THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING FOR THESE NEWER VEHICLES AND IN SOME CASES MESS WITH THE SYSTEM.
