i have a switch not a router and im trying to add another p/c, the guy from staples said a switch can be used instead of a router but you have to go to network connections and add a computer? does anyone know how to do this?

You need a Router if you want to have more than 1 PC to be online, at the same time,Router will supply you with about 250+
internal IP adresses,.. siwtch can not supply any IP address, if you have a switch and two PC connected to it, only one of them can be online at the same time,a small router can act as a switch and router at the same time.

Open your Network Places and click Add Network Place. Follow the prompts. For the new computer, enter its network name or IP address.
