Overall no not really. Once in a blue moon a person is taken away by a shark and a body is never found, however there is never proof on what happened. The shark might have taken the person away thinking they were something else but once it knew it was not what it wanted it could have let the person go. The body could have been eaten by other fish, sank, los at sea and so on and so forth.

Most shark attacks are a quick thing that do not end up in the person being "eaten", other than any part of the body they might have lost during the attack.

That however does not mean that it does not happen. Open water sharks are more known for "eating" people but only because it is a chance for free easy food. You will find this happen most often in an air-sea (plane) accident or boat accident. The USS Indianapolis is a good example of that. Humans are stuck out in the middle of the sea and most often due to the accident are surrounded by interesting sounds and smells that will draw in sharks, not to mention people who have already died. Some believe that the sharks will move in to eat the dead but by chance at times will take the living as well.

Overall though, no they do not eat people. Last year there were only four deaths from shark attacks and less than 100 people were attacked (includes anything from loss of limb to a scratch).

Human is not on the sharks menu. You see sharks evolved to eat what lives in the oceans. We humans are terrestrial. Until the last couple thousand years most humans never left land. So, it is very doubtful that sharks, and there would only be a couple species, have had the time to evolved to a point which would include human in their diet.

Yes, there have been humans killed and eaten by sharks. One of the most dramatic stories of sharks attacking and eating people was that of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis at the end of World War 2.

There are a few attacks every year world wide. Usually the shark mistakes the human for something it eats. Like a seal. Surfers know this and try to keep their legs on the board when sharks are present.

The most dangerous time for humans that are venturing in to shark habitat is during the spawning season. This is when many species of shark come in to shallow waters. In the USA this is June though August. People get bitten because the shark detects you as a predator and the sharks only means of defense is its mouth.

Not really. On average less than 10 people a year die from shark attacks while anywhere from 70 to 100 million sharks are killed each year. Sharks also reproduce very very slowly so most sharks are on the verge of extinction. If you want to know more try aquariums that allow shark diving in their tanks where you get to swim with the sharks to see they are not really a danger to people.

Very rarely. The "hit-and-run" is the most common type of shark attack. It happens because a shark mistakens a human for something tastier, takes a bite, then leaves when it realizes it wasn't what it expected. Being marine animals, sharks natural diet consists of other inhabitants of the ocean, but they occasionally make mistakes.

Yes. But it's extremely uncommon, and only a few species are known to attack humans (notable ones I can think of off the top of my head: nurse, tiger, great white, hammerhead).
