You know, I think Joplin's "Solace" would be really good. Also Chopin's Nocturne in Eb (opus 9 I think) is very sweet.

I like the idea -- I wish I could see the finished product!

Some of the pieces from the Nutrcracker might work, like the "Miniature Overture" or the "Chinese Dance" -- sweet AND funny

Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole. It's a sweet, lovely song.

If I were you I would not go for anything that would distract your mother from the slide show. A nice playful piano piece would be appropriate. I personally find Scarlatti's piano sonatas to be fun, sweet, and playful. I will include a few links to some of these pieces. Hope you like them.

This is a good piece to represent a young growing person beacuse it begins out small, shy and weak, the grows to be strong and beautiful, which is why it is popular.

You will be pleased with any movement from Beethoven's 6th Symphony "Pastoral". It is incredibly light and full of life. It will be perfect for anything baby.
