A tactic where gangs are sued by the government is working and decreases in crime are being reported. Critics however feel these laws are unfair to minorities. Has America gone totally bat sht? I am a mixed guy; I grew up in the “hood”. We suffered under the tyranny of these terrorists. What in the hell is wrong with modern LIBERALS!? While I was growing up on the south side of Chicago I was surrounded by violence. We do not need some white liberals who live in earth friendly million dollar condos downtown telling us what is fair and unfair. We also do not need misguided so called black leaders. How can we fix these problems in the inner cities? What is the real answer? Liberals please respond. All you do is criticize what is being done but you never offer solutions, here is your chance.

i grew up with a really deep gang related family and im telling everyone first hand that the only ppl the can make gangs stop crime is the gang themselves. yeah it might decrease but eventually will increase. ppl in gangs are hard headed and will only do as they please. suing them is not gonna work cuz most ppl in gangs come from broken homes with low income. no one will be able to pay the goverment what they won

I first need to say IT IS ABOUT TIME these thugs got sued. All they cause is problems. These laws in my opinion are not unfair to minorities in the least : Are all thugs supposed to be minorities? The laws are supposed to be targeted at gangs no matter what color they are. If they happen to be minorities, then I guess that's too bad for them. I am not a liberal though. The problems that occur in inner cities are tough to even begin to fix but I will take a crack at it:

1) The problems start with the families
I think those that are on Welfare should have mandatory parenting classes that they have to attend. I feel this way because many families in inner cities are struggling to make ends meet have the time, and sometimes there is no father present.

2) Young ladies and men need to be educated in some way about safe sex, and the value of an education and hard work. I suppose these are things that their family should teach them though. Maybe there should be more afterschool programs establish to reach these girls and boys before they become wrapped up in crime or have children too soon. I dont know where the funding from this would come from but the children need to have a place they can go so they dont get caught up with the wrong people. Tutoring could be offered and counseling.

3) I think the people of these communities need to break the code of silence they have and start doing something about whats going on in their neighborhoods. Don't let people ruin your city-stand up. If these communities started standing up for what they want, I believe these thugs and gangbangers would leave.

Your question is so difficult to answer because there is no one good answer for such a growing problem. Things like things need to be fixed within the family and start with the community. Notice I didnt mention once about any black activists.

lazy people with a low education are bound to be a screw up.

But what can I say, some people like living in there own filth.
Look at all the gang bangers, pimps, hustlers, dope boys. They know what there doing is bad and wrong, but they like things just the way they are(well, most of them do).

kidoe594(above) makes a good point. there was a movie with the same idea.

The biggest problem with gangs and gang violence is an inability to get out of poverty through a traditional job. Drugs sell quicker and for more money than flipping burgers. The appeal of quick cash without having to wear a uniform holds more appeal, despite that whole having to deal with murderous drug lords.
Gangs are formed primarily by kids who see no other way out of the hood. They are then cultivated by drug dealers to do the dirty work selling and delivering illegal drugs and stolen goods in exchange for quick cash. The lure of the easy dollar is strong.
Gangs are perpetuated by a continual demand for illegal drugs. If people would stop demanding illegal drugs, the crime would drop.
Attacking current gangs will not stop new ones from forming. Minorities are targeted because unfortunately more minorities are gang members than ------- caucasian people. This is not to say caucasian people do not commit crimes, but that the gang activity is primarily found in neighborhoods where it is out in the open, labeled with grafitti and expensive cars in low-income areas riddled with poverty. These neighborhoods are filled with more minorities than not.
There are no easy solutions to the gang problem. The first solution is to reduce the demand for illegal drugs, but that means a reduction in the demand for needed prescription drugs such as Viagra and Vicodin, which are top sellers in the black market. And since there are a lot of people in pain, pain medications of any chemical compound will be constantly in demand.
The second solution is to hire minorities even with their multiple felony convictions. If unemployment is high among one particular minority, it is not due to racism but because those minorities tend to have more felony convictions for theft and murder than others. Let's be real, would YOU hire a known convicted felon who did time for burglary, or manslaughter with a hidden illegal weapon? Or would you hire someone with no known felony convictions and has a college degree? That's just the way it is. Certain minorities eschew "White Man's Education" in preference to studying from the school of hard knocks via the mean streets. Most gang members are junior and senior-high dropouts with very little options in terms of finding employment beyond pushing a broom, cleaning toilets, or flipping burgers. Latino gang members choose not to follow their parents into the fields of hard labor, seeing firsthand the suffering of people who kill themselves for a few dollars a day. Oriental gang members use their computer knowledge to organize their illegal businesses, but it is still stealing and fraud despite their access to electronic gadgets. And White, American Southern Protestants (WASP's) still hold the most control, with a primarily Jewish Hollywood still in control of the media.
Frankly, the whole thing is a big mess. Little junior high kids form gangs knowing, with both parents working or divorced parents fighting and living with one parent who is always at work, they can get away with trouble and never get caught because no parent is around to catch them. Juvenile laws protect them from traditional jail, juvenile hall is now a place to solidify bonds with hardened criminals. Teachers and principals can no longer stand up to juvenile crime for fear of retribution through lawsuits and older brothers in gangs who are not afraid to do drive-by shootings. So gang members continue because everyone is afraid to stand up to them.
I say these attempts by cities to do something, anything, is a good thing. Minorities need to address their racial problems by pulling their heads out of the sand and admitting that they have a problem with their own kids. Maybe if minorities accept that their own kids are the problem, something somewhere will change.
