As zahbudar said, it's a bit too cold and the atmospheric conditions are not exactly conducive to comfortable living (for humans anyhow).

In addition, what atmosphere does exist is very, very thin (it varies between about 9 millibars in summer, and 4 millibars in winter - when the carbon dioxide gets locked into the polar ice caps).

There's no liquid water, and very limited quantities of water ice.

The gravity is also rather low. This might actually be more comfortable for some people (it means that hearts and muscles don't have to work as hard), but it also means that the planet will have a hard time holding any atmosphere even if we do manage to terraform one somehow.

So, although it's probably the second most hospitable planet in our solar system (after Earth, of course), it's still not going to be easy to set up colonies or even make long term visits there.

NO.

Mars has a surface temperature of from Minus 195 Degrees F. to Plus 77 Degrees F. on warm days. So the temperature extremes alone are disastrous for human life.

One day on Mars is almost the same as one day on Earth (24.62 Earth Hours), but a Year on Mars is 687 Earth Days, so a Year is about twice as long meaning that Winter lasts for almost one full year.

The main problem is that the atmosphere on Mars consists mainly of iron dust filled carbon dioxide gas with little, or no oxygen. The iron dust is what gives Mars its characteristic red color. Were there to be quantities of oxygen on Mars, most likely a huge explosion and fires would result from its sudden combination with the iron dust producing ferric oxide. (rust).

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the seventh largest.

Other than the earth, mars is the most favorable place in the solar system for human habitation.
But people couldn’t stay there, unless human create artificial habitats.
