Well, I have had a lot of changes in the last year or so. I had a daughter back in December...I am happily engaged...and I am only 21...Anyway, I am going back to school in August to finish my last year at college and finally graduate (YAY!) and I am in a bind. My style still reflects that of an 18 year old. I want to start looking more professional. I am a mom now and I do not want to be seen as poor white trash looking...also, I want to start looking more professional because I will be graduating school and pursuing jobs with large companies. I want to know what kind of style would suit someone like myself. I do not want to look 40 but I certainly have outgrown my years as a teenager. How do I go about looking more professional but still looking my age? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated regarding anything from hair and makeup to what outfits would be appropriate, especially when I go back on campus in August. Thanks for the suggestions!

Also, I am 5'10" and about 125 lbs...It is difficult to find clothes that fit me but I need a wardrobe makeover so whatever it takes...

I have blonde hair layered that goes below my shoulder blades and blue eyes...

BEST WAYSTO GET OUT of TEEN MODE:
1] avoid layered shirts - [ cami with Ts, etc.] Jackets/sweaters/hoodies are OK.
2] no screened Ts in public - save for rock concerts or yard work.
3] no flip flops outside beach or car wash.
4] no patchwork/'quilted' shorts
FIGURE OUT your body type, and best colors [ that add sparkle to your eyes, and a glow to your skin.] Then purchase only items that flatter you/your body, not just what is 'hot' or 'in style'.
BUY:
a] fitted [ girl ]Ts, in brights and pastels that flatter. Try jewel neck, scoop, v-neck, u-neck, and square neck styles.
b] pants/capris/shorts without holes, faded areas, or juvenile add-ons.
c] several jackets to wear with jeans/skirts/pants: velvet, cord, denim [ summer - crochet, eyelet, lace ]
d] start collecting polished, comfortable shoes - ballet flats, pumps, boots, wedges - any classics that ft well and would work for office and school.
e] collect classic but stylish jewelry - gold or silver hoops, studs, chandeliers, neckchains and bracelets, bangles; pearls; precious stones in best colors [ emerald and ruby vs.
topaz and turquoise ] for ears and fingers.
f] other tops - twinsets, turtlenecks [ not too bulky ], wrap tops, and blouses.
g] invest in a smart leather tote or messenger bag.
h] when hired, buy one or two suits!

A few good pairs of slacks are good staples. You can wear slacks with a blazer and heels to look professional, or dress them down with a casual tee and a comdy pair of sandals or wedges.

Gauchos are cute and can be dressy or casual depending on the rest of your outfit. Don't go overboard on the accessories; make sure they compliment your outfit rather than overpower it. Another cute professional look is the knee-length pencil skirt with heeled boots or pumps.

Here are some links to some outfits like the ones I mentioned from VictoriasSecret.com.

If you like looks like this but want to shop a little cheaper, print out a picture of the outfits and take it to a department store or another store that has knock-offs of namebrands. You'll no doubt find the exact same outfit, minus the namebrand, half the price. My kinda shopping! :)
