Did the doctors rule out an ear infection? Perhaps try to get a referral to an ENT specialist (Ear Nose Throat) and get the second opinion. The ear itself might be fine, but there might be some canal and fluid issues (possible irrigation needed). Do you often find yourself dizzy and off balance? If so, this might confirm the canal issue.
You can also ask for an MRI if this scan is used for such things...but the MRI is expensive (and usually used for detecting artery health.)
Also, the next time they give an ear (audio) test, be sure they check all frequencies...sometime the tuning fork test only tests just one frequency and might miss the range that you are having problems with.

I take it you've been to an ear specialist and an audiologist, who can check the degree of hearing loss. If second and third opinions from these two professions don't give satisfaction, I guess you're stuck.

You'll probably wind up like me, saying "Huh?" all the time, because certain sounds get garbled in your auditory system.

I sounds like you are getting water in you ears which is causing problems. If you will drop a few drops of alcohol or peroxide in each ear, this will cause the water bubbles to burst and allow water to evaporate. One of my life's worst pains was an ear ache caused by swimming. Good luck.

You must have some water trapped behind your ear drum. Grasp you ear lobe between 2 fingers and move it around while stretching it. Sometimes this will allow the water to exit.
