I received an e-mail from: lotteryaward004@fuse.net
They announced me that i have therefore been approved for a lump sum pay out of £500,000.00 from YAHOO! International Promotions Program. Would somebody tell me is this a spam?

Haven't you heard -- "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is"? These scams are so widespread I'm surprised you haven't heard of them.

This is what I do:

· In Yahoo Mail, Options, General Preferences, I have my options set to display full headers and also block HTML images.
· When I receive one of these lottery notices, I carefully (underline carefully) open it, careful not to click on anything, then select the whole message (with full header) and copy.
· Go to Compose and paste in the message box.
· In the To box, I send to www.reportphishing@antiphishing.org

This organization is working to shut these people down.

Note: If and when I get a legitimate e-mail with images, I scroll to the bottom of the message where there is a link to display HTML images in that particular message.

This is not just a spam...it is a scam. They will have you wire them money to "pay for fees associated with paying out your winnings" and then the check they send you will be returned to your bank for forgery, counterfite, ect.; You will be out the money you wired, and that you will get chaged by your bank!

it's a scam that a lot of people fall for, something for nothing. I usually send an e-mail back and tell them that if know that much about me,, just send me the check and then we'll talk. I never hear back from any of them.

I will tell you but first you have to pay me £250 and give me your bank details!

Yes, it's a scam. You didn't enter a lottery so how have you won one?

yes it's a scam. I get many every week and also letters from little old ladies dying from cancer who love cats and want me to distribute their wealth when they die to cats homes!
Eventually, you will be asked to either pay for a service (like courier) or provide your full name, banking details address etc.
