Hi fish enthusiasts. I have had two Angel Fish in a community tank for about two years now, among guramis and tetras. They are healthy and have grown to full size. Recently, however, the slightly bigger one has started bullying the other. They've never been aggressive with each other before, but now one is totally dominating the other, and even nips. Is this normal? Some kind of social statement? A kinky love ritual? Will he fight till the other dies? I don't know a lot about Angels, so any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance.

It could be a social statement of dominance or the beginnings of a mating ritual. Both can apply to this activity. Things to watch carefully for is the larger dominating a particular area or part of the tank or what is commonly called lip locking, where they fight mouth to mouth. These are key indicators of mating rituals. If you don't see this and instead only see chasing and nipping, it's far more likely to be a dominance issue. I that case there really isn't anything to do but remove one of the two fish as it will continue until the weaker is killed.

This is fairly normal among territorial fishes such as cichlids, the family to which your angels belong.
