Y'all are for having anything to do with someone who calls you stupid.
Your husband shouldn't have even said anything, just stayed away from this person. It's crazy to get into an argument with someone who is obviously off his rocker.
You don't know what kind of psycho this guy could be. Shouldn't be mouthing off to someone like that.

This person is definitely not a friend. I dont think your husband is wrong completely. They're both wrong. The friend insulted your husband and your husband returned the favor. Both are wrong, neither are crazy.... but the friend is definitely out of line to feel that the husband alone is the one who needs to apologize.

Lots of people have pointed out that your "friend" is a jackass and you and your husband are better off without him. I'll just point out, what kind of wife are you that you would even question if your husband is in the wrong here? What ever happened to "stand by your man"? Someone continually insults your husband, and when he finally has enough you have the gall to think he's wrong in doing so? Wtf, lady?
You need to go look up the definition of "loyalty" in the dictionary and start applying the concept to your marriage, while you still have one.

The friend.
Some people are like that unfortunately. I have the "pleasure" of working with two that's the exact same way.
Many doesn't even realize how they act, so maybe if your husband try explaining why he blew a fuse his "friend" might be more understanding. If not he isn't much of a friend at all.

Your husband did the right thing. With friends like this...who needs enemies? This is a "friend" he could stand to lose. A true friend wouldn't insult and belittle another.

A "friend" wouldn't call you stupid or talk down to you. Your husband needs to tell this "friend" to take a hike. An apology? Yeah, right.

The friend. Perhaps the husband could have handled it better, but it's up to the husband to decide if this friend is worth keeping. Maybe not.

It's his friend, so let him deal with it.
We all can only put up with so much crap before we explode. Your husband exploded. Now it's his friend's turn to wise up and stop the stupid remarks.
by the way...does your husband make a lot of assumptions about things he doesn't know anything about? just checking. It sounds like your husband's friend is very arrogant, but that doesn't mean that your husband doesn't sometimes make mistakes too.

If they are such great friends that your husband wants to maintain the friendship, he needs to go and try something like this ...
"Look man, I'm sorry I told you to f*ck off, but we need to come to an understanding and you're going to have to show some respect from me. I don't need your putdowns, so cut it out, alright?"
Most men can gogo through that pretty unscathed, and he DEFINATELY needs to tell his friend to chill and keep his own pride and nutsack intact.
