I just asked my dad (the master veggie gardener, lol) this same question last night. He said some take longer than others to turn red (I have grape tomatoes) and it could take several weeks. He advised I leave them alone to get that fresh off the vine taste when they are ready to eat. You can move them inside to ripen but if you choose this route, I would wait until they start turning at least a little red.

Putting a green tomato on a window sill or sunny place will detract from the flavor. The best way I've found is to wrap the tomato in newspaper and store in a cool, dry place(basement). Check every few days so that it doesn't over-ripen. This works particularly well late in the growing season.

If the tomatoes are not rotting on the vine, I would let them be a little longer. Or you could put them on a sunny window sill, that's supposed to work. Have you considered just making Fried Green Tomatoes with them. Just coat slices in flour with salt and pepper mixed in and fry them up.

You can wait awhile, they take awhile to get red sometimes, or you can have fried green tomatoes YUM!

Seriously though, be patient and as long as you have no rot, sun, water, you'll get some red tomatoes! Good luck!
