are similar to ' the littlest hobo'? the hobo turned up to help and observe, but never stayed around to long, then was off on his travels, moved on to new adventures, never to return.

The littlest hobo...ya mean the dog!?! Maybe tomorrow, I'll settle down but till tomorrow...oh sorry, lost in memory there for a moment. Although that's it really; isn't it, it's the restless heart that can't find it's place; for the whole of world is this hearts home, and till they're lives finished they are forced to endlessly roam. Round each corner a new adventure, over the next hill and into the newest valley an adventure waits, the restless heart will never sit still.

A drifter is different than a hobo. A drifter will go from town to town, find work and stay for a short time. When he has enough money he would go to a different town and do the same thing all over again. A hobo does not want to work and a lot of them will steal or beg money.

A drifter is someone with no conventional ties to society by bad fortune or choice.A person who does not lay down roots for long in any one place and work when it is necessary.Someone absolutely free from obligations.
