As a former member of our armed services, I have served this country, and have been all over the world. I have never been to a country that was as good as America. I am proud to be one, although we are not perfect, we're pretty damn good.

I don't see why not. America and Americans have a lot to be proud of.
It's when Americans start going on about being blessed by god like it's the only nation in the world that is or deserves to be that it get's on the nerves of the rest of us.

I don't see any reason to be proud to be any nationality/race. It's not like something you accomplished. Were you about to be born Laotian but you fought your way into the body of an american? No. I'm glad to be an american, pride goes before a fall.

Yes, we should all have pride in our countries. I'm very proud to be English. I like the States and have been several times and the majority of Americans I've met are very nice. It's just your overseas policies we have problems with.

Because you're not living under martial law, wide-spread poverty, famine, under the rule of the FSB/KGB/GRU, you don't have to present papers to pass each county, you're not forced into military service, you can come and go as you please without the threat of getting killed, you're not under governmental curfew and have to run the risk of being sent to a labor camp.
I could go on for days but I won't, so instead I'll say this. If you cannot find one good reason to be proud to live here then you definitely don't belong here. Anybody that cannot find happiness in America doesn't deserve to be happy.

to be honest, you should be proud that your country has not been invaded for 200 odd years, that a good achievement what in reality, only the british, and most of its commonwealth can say(except ours is nearly 1000 years)
you have resisted change, technology, and got to the top of the pile.
im very patriotic as a britishman, and i am so proud to be british, i live to this day knowing i would die for my country.
dont be proud of the freedom thing, different countries and cultures have different views of freedom, how in arab states u are free to marry more than one woman, here its bigamy,. criminal offence
us its freedom to have a gun, here its a crime(a good thing?)
you have the right to not be persacuted, however, racism, hatered is all around democratic nations, there are capped boys roaming the streets causing trouble.
arab states there is the knowledge they are secure and are religios, they believe they are better off, what is a exceleent mindset

I'm personally not into the whole "national pride thing" per se. I just happened to be born here, it's not like I "earned" my way into this country or anything. But that's just me. I could see how someone who fought to get where they wanted would be proud, though.

Because if you read our Constitution, you will find that government's power and authority is restricted, which results in the maximum of freedom for us. Unfortunately, our politicians are as corrupt as those of other countries. We have allowed them to usurp power over us, in violation of the Bill of Rights. The best example is the USA PATRIOT Act, which is supposed to protect us from terrorism. In return, we allow government to spy on us, regulate our lives, and attempt to intimidate us. These same politicians have brought terrorism to our shores by getting us involved in foreign wars.
We have the greatest country in the world. The problem is out politicians.

Yes you should be because it is much better than most of the world. Yes there is discrimination here to some extent but still it is so much better than what is out there. Have you ever lived some where else? and I don't mean visiting there. If you did you would realize why every one wants to "come in" to America, there has to be something good about it right?

Every country has its plusses and minuses. We happen to have an idiot for a President at the moment. It will get better.
I like being an American despite the idiot in office.
Make up your own mind who you are and what you feel proud of. No one else's opinion should matter.
