We have four here and only one isn't working. When I try to connect it says that the server is not connected. Everything looks connect to us (we're at work). We pulled up an Advanced System Information Error Log and it says the following: The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NwInkIpx because another computer on the network has the same name. The server could not start. Please help. If you have more specific questions for me, email me.

This is the first time this has happened since we got the computers last year. How did they duplicate? And if we change the name, what do we change it to? Right now it's just a bunch of numbers.

Sounds like the system names are duplicated. You can change this by bringing up the System properties interface in Start->Control Panel->System. Select the Computer Name tab and rename the system.

After you change the name, open a MS DOS prompt and use:

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

The second command will connect to your DHCP server and request a new IP address and other network information available from your router.

The message is quite clear... the computer can't connect because it's 'name' is the same as one of the other computers on the network.

I'd also guess you are running netware as a protocol...

Have a look in control panel -> system and look at the identification tab... you'll probably find that the computer has the same name as one of the other 3. Change it to be unique and the problem should be cured.
