i dont have a wiring diagram for my car

Do you have a multimeter and diagram of which fuse is which? You should be able to suss it from that.

Early Rover 25,s had a problem where the terminals were touching the tailgate metalwork i.e.the window was 'pushed' into the bond too far.This can cause the window to short circuit.Easy way to check is take a piece of paper and try to slide it between the terminals and the tailgate just like a 'feeler' gauge. If it is too tight this might be your problem.
