No - it's a way to escape the stress of a situation. The brain is merely looking for a way to distance itself from the stress it's feeling.
It can "take more" - much more, in fact...consider what other humans have been through and you'll know this to be true.
But, that does not mean the brain isn't always looking for a way to avoid stress or pain. That's natural.
I feel suicidal thoughts are often considered as a way to make a statement to others...a kind of ultimate "look what you made me do" that can only bring pain to those closest to the person considering it. When you look at it this way, it really begins to firm up the idea that those who choose suicide are weak and lack the fortitude to simply deal with their problems or look for help to get through the hard times. It's easier to "punish" those closest to you by just checking out. The thing few realize is that help IS there, and there are so many people who'd love to know you, and the future is SO full of great experiences and grand memories yet to happen that thoughts of suicide would not even be considered if you could even get a glimpse of what the future holds.
Suicide is an escape, but it's far from being the only one or even the best one. Working through issues not only makes you stronger, it allows you to help others with issues. Life is too awesome to check out early - there's too much to miss you can't even dream of yet.

I think suicidal thoughts are a way of telling a person they are at a point of hopelessness, and a way of telling a person they need to seek some help.
Its time to talk to someone is you are thinking suicide is the only choice you have left.
I speak from experience. I have and am that way right now.
I feel the hopelessness, unworthy, helpless, and that suicide is my way of not hurting anymore. Not a phyical hurt but an emotional hurt. From a relationship going bad and ending. And abusive relationship. Family that has turned against me because of my mental illnesses of depression , anxiety, and a few other diagnosis.
My therapist is helping me to see how far ive come since the ending of the relationship. Started with nothing. ALl my belongings i lost . Now i have my own apartment, furnished completely.
So she is showing me things such as that,. that suicide is not the only answer to my depressive feelings.
I still have the suicial thoughts but they are at the back of my mind instead of at the front and my feeling its the only answer to all ive been through.
Hope this answered some of your question.

No, suicidal thoughs are a way to tell you, it hurts, nothing more, nothing less. When you go there, you must seek help, or keep busy. Go through them and it will get better, it only look bad, because you can't see anything but the hurt. Once the time has past, i promise you will feel better.
I know i have been through it before, and i am still here and I will continue on living. I made a promise and have kept it since. Will you make me a promise and hold on it for dear life?
Coward will actually do it, winner will survice it and grow, we are all winner, just remember that!

It's not a stupid question, and the answer is yes.
A person may suffer from clinical depression, have a terminal disease or have some other real or imagined problems that a person's mind is having real troubles coping with.
If you are the one with the suicidal thoughts, see a doctor and a counselor right now. You may have a chemical imbalance that the doctor can help with. You may need some counseling to prioritize your problems and some help in solving them short of suicide.

I think suicidal thoughts are completely normal- but they could just be a moment of weakness. When you feel helpless and want to give up, that's when the thoughts creep in. You have to be strong and push through no matter what it takes. Suicide is the most selfish act b/c it's an easy way out for the person doing it, but it causes so much pain and hardship for the people left behind.

I think it might be a "cry for help" or a way to escape. Suicidal thoughts are troubling, especially when accompanied by depression, other mental illnesses, alcohol or drug abuse, or plans for suicide. This situation demands immediate evaluation. These thoughts can indicate serious illness.
The critical distinction is between a person’s thoughts regarding death and suicide, and actually wanting to die. When doctors hear that someone wants to die, they refer to these thoughts as suicidal ideation and divide them into 2 categories.
Suicidal ideation can be active and involve a current desire and plan to die.
Suicidal ideation can be passive, involving a desire to die but without a plan to bring about one's death.
If a person has an actual desire to die (in either form of suicidal ideation), he or she must seek immediate medical attention.
Suicidal Thoughts Causes
Many people experience suicidal thoughts at some time in their lives.
In otherwise healthy people, such thoughts are often brought about by sudden, unexpected change in life circumstances.
Suicidal ideation is part of many mental illnesses, including depression, schizophrenia, and drug or alcohol abuse.
Strong evidence exists that depression—and many other forms of mental illness—can be passed from parent to child and that a tendency toward suicidal ideation and suicide is likewise inherited.
