Not sure why you have to tell the bishop anything. He can't make you go to church. However, lying to the bishop by telling him its the baby's fault when you simply don't want to go is wrong.

Why don't you approach the bishop and inquire as to whether he thinks your son is disrupting the service ? do they have a cry room ? Can you and your husband take turns taking him outside if necessary ? After all the sermon is usually 30 minutes out of your week.....

We had three young children, and we did stop going to church because of that, till they grew up a bit.The priest will say that he wont mind but some people don't like to be disturbed, especially during the mass. Then you've got the congregation too, and they can be a little bit touchy as well.

I don't go to church, partly for the same reason. I couldn't imaging taking MY kids into a place of worship. I can't even get them to sit still and be quiet when they're sound asleep!!!

You don't need the Bishop to answer your question. Listen to the little inner voice of yours that we call "conscience" and let that be the determining factor.

Take the baby there one more time... and then just don't bring him back home. problem solved!
I know, it sucks that you'll have to go to church one last time, but it will be worth it, i promise. abandoning my child was the best decision i ever made. twice.

I talked to him this morning and he told me that you would be asking this question, and he told me to come on here and look for it. And to tell you that it would be okay if you didn't show up. He said he didn't really want you there in the first place.

Why do you need an excuse... just don't go. It's not as if god exists or anything.
