Most of the beaches aren't that different from each other. The public beach near "the Hangout" in Gulf Shores isn't bad, but will be crowded. If you're in a Gulf front condo, you will have a beach in front of your building. I like the area around Alabama Point myself.
Just make sure to watch the flags for water conditions. If there are rip currents, they can be deadly.
