No.
Besides, it would just be another government handout--only this time, the principal beneficiaries would be the lawyers and "civil rights" organizations which already, like leeches, suck minorities dry in the guise of representing them. Anyone who thinks the average descendant of slavery would see a dime of reparations money needs his/her head examined.

Hello,
I'll tell you what; I'll support it if the British government and Prime Minister Brown will give me back my great grandfather's stone quarries and businesses in Ireland or a financial equivalent on the land value today along with a public apology of course. My ancestors being Roman Catholic were nothing more than afros with white skins to the British at the time and treated accordingly. They were shipped out to America and Australia at bayonet point.
I am just asking that if reparations for past evil injustices are to become the norm, then where is my share?
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

Why pick one particular subset of people from the history of the world and pay them for evils done to their ancestors by some other subset of people? It's illogical. There are too many aggrieved parties everywhere if you look long enough and far back enough.
I can see there being an excellent case made for putting greater funds into education, job training, home loan subsidies, and low interest business loans for African-Americans and Native Americans because of the systemic discrimination they have been subjected to. The idea being to help people pull themselves up and be successful. There should be no free lunch coming in a windfall of cash from the Federal Government.

No!
Should the descendants of Union soldiers that fought and died during the American Civil War receive reparations? Should the United States return the lands of the American Indians, too?
People also need to go to school and work or our nation will go further into debt...

Probably not technically as it was the souther states and how do we pay back the Indians and make right all the injustices of the past. I guess the rule is if possible make amends. The worse problem is that injustice still goes aroung the world. Most people might settle for it just to stop.
