Windows media player will play movies but will play music cd?

have windows xp. I used to watch dvds but now I get an error message to change screen resolution and or color. The dvd still dosent play dispite changing settings. I am able to play usic cds so the cd rom seems to be ok. I am not that good with computers so can someone help me please

Sounds like your dvd codecs are corrupted or missing.......try downloading some more codecs from the web or re-install your dvd viewing program.
