I've just moved into a new place. My mum's an artist and i was thinking about getting her to do a painting of one of the tintin covers - which do you think is the best and why?

I always liked the cover to "Flight 714" that showed the characters approaching some strange chamber of artifacts...the juxtaposition with the airplane image in the title text made me realize that something went terribly wrong with the flight :-)

Below is a link to a great website showing all the Tintin covers over the years.

For example, if you click on the current cover for "Tintin en Amerique", it opens a window showing 2 older covers that are quite different.

I think all the covers are great, and growing up I read every book from cover to cover, over and over. They would look great reproduced as a painting.

If I had to pick, I think it would be the 1941 cover of "les cigares du Pharaon" or the 1938 cover for "L'ile Noire", I like the design and the fact that it puts the viewer into the action immediately. Actually, all the covers are pretty good, aren't they?
