I suffer from prementrual water retention to the point that i can put on around 6lbs in the week before my period. I don't drink coffee and try my very best to avoid the much crazed for chocolate. My doctor has prescribed Bendrofluazide to take first thing in the morning to relieve it. These pills do work but i've found they take an hour and a half to start working. Any other ladies been prescribed water pills that start working in a shorter time?

You can buy tablets over the counter called aquaban specifically for premenstrual fluid retention. They are probably as strong as bendrofluazide as bendrofluazide are quite mild. To go any stronger than that, you will be in and out of the toilet all morning.

For awhile I was on LASIX (I have a genetic heart defect that was fixed by surgery) and usually I had to pee about an hour after I took the pills. And then I had to go every hour or half hour for about 4 hours.

The hour and a half timeline seems normal to me. Don't forget, it takes awhile for the body to absorb any drug.
