The early gnostic christians knew this, they viewed Jesus as the Judaic version of the dying/resurrected god/man in the line of Osiris, Dionysus, Mithra, etc. Pythagoras was a master of the Mystery religions (what you call the occult, I think) and he was seen walking on water, changing water into wine, raising the dead, etc. All of the miracles in the christian testament attributed to Jesus were done earlier by various Mystery religion masters. The gnostics honored Jesus as a Master within that tradition, did not consider him to be an actual physical human being that walked the earth. Even Paul teaches Jesus as spirit, does not mention his earthly life at all.

Like any other belief is superior or more valid than another.
Take any religion or -ism and there is some hole in it somewhere. Belief is powerful apparently no matter what that belief is in so do as you will.
