One of the best chemical free methods is to place small saucers of any beer around all the plants that are invaded by slugs, snails etc. they creep into this, get drunk and cannot get out. What a way to go ha!!! Hope this helps. PS It is not cruelty to slugs as they are 'out of it' ha!!
and suffer no trauma I guess.

For slugs, beer put into lids of containers. For bugs, try something like Safer Soap, or make your own spray just with liquid dishwashing detergent (not the machine stuff) mixed with water.
