People of European ancestry raise both eyebrows. My Japanese and Chinese lovers raise just one eyebrow. I can do it, after seeing them do it. I have great coordination. Not everyone can do it who is not Asian. It is just looking askance at something. I may use a word wrong deliberately and turn what I say into nonsense or vulgarity, e.g. a name for San Francisco in Chinatown is Saam Faan Si with these 3 words meaning 3 foreigners' market. The Si is in low tone. If I change to high tone, it becomes crap. My lover Chin-Hua gave me a raised eyebrow when I said that.

This would be a dissapproving look and saves verbal confrontation with someone as it says a thousand words if done correctly. It would not be an easy thing to develop but you could practice in a mirror to see if it had the desired effect. Think James Bond, cool, sarcastic, gets the point home with a glare like this. I cannot do it myself but then I am female. Men do it better. More impact hey??

It really depends. Me and my friends raise our eyebrows at each other sometimes, but it doesn't always mean a bad thing, although usually it does. Sometimes it can mean the person's irritated, or looks down on you. I often do it when I give a person a what-the-heck-do-you-think-you're-doing look..

Yes--I've been the recipient many, many times. Always bad. I got that look from my teachers a lot!

And no, I don't do it, mainly because I can't.

This is such a rude thing.....and yes, it has been done to me, largely for what I was wearing at the time. A supposedly 'well dressed lady' we saw each week would eye me up and down to check out my clothing. So rude and so obvious ! This lady has too much time on her hands! As for me. I do NOT do this !!
