I didn't know the bills were changed. I still have some U. S. dollars here in Japan. Are they still acceptable in America?

I got it! Thank you everyone :) As I read an article that some Asian countries don't accept old ones, I was wondering.

yes you can US dollars never expire.With in the last few years they just changed there appearance.As long as there not counterfeit lol your ok.

Yes your US Dollars are still valid. a hundred years ago, US money was issued by the various banks throughout the country and there were a few banks that issued strange 3 dollar notes!. Allthough those are very rare collectors bills, they are too, still valid currency in the US

If they are silver certificates they might have numismatic value as well. But they will always be worth at least face value. No problem mate;
