liberals believe there is more than one way to identify what is good and right than just the bible. Or they believe the bible and interpret it in a way that others call "liberal." I think they use what is called 'reason' or thinking to answer questions, rather than going to tradition or what somebody says is the tradition. Conservatives don't believe this approach is valid, that 'reason' is synonymous with 'rationalization' and reason is just an excuse to not follow the rules of right and wrong handed down by tradition, the Bible, whatever. Conservatives tend to believe that whatever is old is better than what is new, and that people in olden times were generally better and wiser than people living today, so the old are always moral and correct and people today are immoral, corrupt and wrong.

that is a grand generalization. I can speak of myself. I am a social liberal. I feel the love in my heart that is displayed in my actions is the reason I believe I am a good person.
It takes quite a bit for me to hate someone. As a gay man I will protect myself and have attended self defense classes. I think more gay men should do this.

I am a conservative, but I don't believe liberals are bad. I just think that both conservatives and liberals are helping our country, but both sides are too busy bashing and arguing with each other that they won't accept it.
