I own a landscaping business for past 10 years.
I have a crew of 10 americans working for me now.
But I was approached by a guy who says he can get me a whole new crew fo 10 mexican immigrants (undocumented) who can do the same work for half the wages I now pay my current employees.....significantly improving my bottomline.

Should I stay put or switch??

Oh, THESE answers should be interesting. Hiring citizens is legal, but will cost you more. Hiring illegals would be, ahem, illegal, but would cost you less--unless someone brings charges against you, that is. And then there are the moral issues; by paying anyone less than a fair wage, you are contributing to a host of other social problems for our country.

I'm going to go with, "No."

Well, you need to know the local and state laws concerning hiring of illegals. What state do you live in? Breaking that law, might result in a fine, and perhaps suspending your business license. In this day and age, your best bet, is to keep your 10 American workers, and market your company as such, an American business, owned by an American, employing only Americans.......... If Americans are really fed up with illegal immigration, then I would think they would support a company such as yours, even if it means they will have to pay a few extra $$$.

Stay put, because hiring them would be illegal. For the last time, the illegal immigrants are not the only people breaking the law here. The American businessmen hiring them are breaking the law too. It seems to me that all of the folks crying about 'amnesty' for illegal immigrants, seem to have nothing to say about the default 'amnesty' granted to American business that actually is the primary cause of this situation.

From what I understand, I'm surprised you'd still have to pay half the wages. Sounds like you'd be getting ripped off. A crew of illegals should cost far less than that.

I don't know who is legal and who is not but all the Mexicans I've encountered who have made it to the midwest are very hard workers.

Loser... dumb joke. You obviously hate this country to try to get a rise out of good Americans with your stupid comedy routine.

Stay put, you don't need the potential problems and we don't need to encourage more illegals to come here.
