you back from bigger and better things?

I think friendships are a "reason, season" cyclic thing.

Some do their natural time, then die. Some linger on and off for years but are always there, some are strongly constant and regular in my life.

I have many types of friendships, appealing to many facets of my personality.

I seldom feel my friendships are holding me back from anything, because although friendship is an important thing for me, I don't do it out of any sense of duty or responsibility to others, therefore emotional "blackmail" or those type of games don't work on me.

This doesn't mean I don't care or feel for my friends, I do very deeply, but I care and love myself first in all my relationships, so if a friendship is causing me less care and love of myself, then that is a warning sign that the friendship may not be worth the time and effort it takes to continue it.

I have friendships because I choose to have them.

I started to realize that last fall, and I began cleaning out the so-called "friendship house"... I not only have lost what I thought of as an ongoing depression; I lost 20 lbs, also!

No. A friend is there to lift you up, encourage and motivate you. If neither of you are doing this for each other then you both need to look for new friends.
