I found that alloys is a type of homogenous mixture. What exactly is homogenous mixture? (I've checked wiki and found that the explanation is complicated, please explain in simpler form, thanks!)

Alloys are mixtures because the elements that make it up are physically together, not chemically joined together as in a compound. To be plain and simple, a homogenous mixture is a bunch of molecules so close together (but not chemically joined) , that you can't tell them apart.
Example: Cola--made up of water, sugar, and carbon etc, but I can't tell it's a homogenous mixture just by looking at it

Dough is a homogeneous mixture of Flour, Water and salt etc.
It is a physical mixture. No chemical reaction has taken place.
Alloy is a intimate , homogeneous physical mixture of metals. Reaction does not take place. So alloy is not a compound but it is a homoegneous mixture...

I like the way you are thinking here. But alloys are classified as mixtures. Although they would in most cases be metallically bonded. A metallic bond is not a normal chemical bond, like an ionic bond or a covalent bond as they are neither. They are not generally mixtures of compounds but mixtures of pure metals, like zinc and copper for bronze.

Homogeneous means that there is only one phase present - ie the whole material is solid (or liquid, or gas).
Mixture means that each metal can be present in any proportion. If an alloy was a compound, you could only get one ratio of metals present, whereas in reality you can go from 0% to 100% of each metal in an alloy.

read it carefully and slowly --->

alloy - is a homogeneous mixture of two or more metals or non metals.

mixture because its components are not chemically combined together for eg. a mix of sand and salt < u cant separate the two though they are not chemically combined .

homogeneous because it has constant composition of the constituted metals throughout it . for eg dissolve sugar in water what u get is a homogeneous mixture ----as sugar is uniformly distributed in water.

now mix oil and water --oil will float on water > what u get is a heterogeneous mixture > with a visible boundary between oil and water and the two can be easily separated .

so NOW--- alloy is a homogeneous mixture of two or more metals or non metals.

A mixture is basically substances distributed through each other with no covalent or ionic bonding. A compound is when the constituent elements are bonded together either covalently (like water) or ionically (like salt).
