People must eat to survive, and meat has many nutrients that a vegetarian diet doesn't offer. The animals we kill for food are generally those that there are plenty of and aren't endangered. In the wild, many animals must hunt to survive, therefore they kill other animals to eat. This isn't much different than what humans do when we kill animals for food.
Fur (or the hide) is something that people don't really need. The animals killed for the hides are either those bred on a farm (minx, fox, alligator), or very often endangered. In either case, only the fur is used and the rest is thrown away or left to rot.
In my opinion, if the animal was going to be killed for food, there wouldn't be a problem with using it's fur or hide as well. In fact, that would very likely be better use of it. In most cases, that's not the way it's done.
Though both involve killing animals, they aren't the same. The first is for survival, whereas the second is simply for vanity.

There's more rage towards fur because of the fact, when you eat meat, it's to sustain life, to keep you energized and the like. While wearing fur, when people get the fur, the only thing they get is the fur and leave behind the carcasses of animals for the sole purpose of some woman (or man) who wants it as a fashion acessory or something like it.

There is more rage against wearing fur because the fur used by manufacturers of coats etc. come from animals like minks and chinchillas which are born and bred on mill farms like the way some people do with puppies.Animals that are growing increasingly extinct are also used.It is not up to us to decide what animals will become extinct....that is up to Mother Nature herself.

Well, wearing an anilmal's fur is just out there...think about it..the insides of the animal have been taken out and what remains is the shell with the head...it's really a shame!

Eating is a much more important necessity of all species in order to survive. Wearing fur is not necessary at all, it is just done for fun. So eating meat could be justified, but fur is totally unjustified.

Well, I occasionally go hunting, and when I do, I use the meat, and, if possible the fur.
The good Lord did give us dominion over the creatures of this world, but with that comes responsibility to not kill for killing's sake.

we were put on this earth to be fruitful and multiply, to do this we need to eat. animals are part of the food chain (they eat each other) so this means they are here for us as a resource for food. animal lovers take the killing of an animal personally. now as far as fur is concerned, the need to kill an animal to achieve a level of vanity seems to be irresponsible. if you kill a bear to use for food, i have no problem if you want to make a coat out of it, our ancestors did this and is why humans are still on this planet. but when movie stars that just use the furs for fashion, this is what really gets the PETA peoples' goat!!!

People need to eat to survive. Sure, back in the old days we needed fur also to stay warm, but that no longer applies, these days it's just a vanity item. But food; we still need it. And damn meat tastes good...

eating is neccessary to living while killing an animal for the sake of being fashionable is quite pathetic, especially when artificial fur can be used to create the same look.

eating meat is [or was] considered a necessity to survive - almost all of the killed animal is used for this purpose
killing an animal just to wear its fur - pure vanity wasting the rest of the creature is disgusting and barbaric
